Healthy Essays - Personal Life, Health Promotion, RTT, Health
Healthy Essays - Personal Life, Health Promotion, RTT, Health Healthy I am here to convince you to live a healthy lifestyle. What exatly is a healthy lifestyle? A healthy lifestyle is a kind of life without bad habits, unhealthy food, and all those things that negatively influence your health. You all should want to grow up and be succesful in your life, but you can't do that without living a healthy lifestyle. Get rid of any bad habits, eat healthy, and focus on your goals and what is good for you. A great way to begin living a healthy lifestyle is to design an exercise routine, or program, that fits you. There are factors to be considered when choosing an exercise program. These include, what you are capable of, your interests, the equipment necessary, and how well you adapt to the program. You should take any where between 20 to 60 minutes out of the week, several times a week to exercise to stay fit and in shape, no matter what it takes. Doing this will make you look and feel better, which should motivate you. No excuses. I've heard all the excuses you can come up with. "I have to much to do", "I am so tired", or "that's embrassing!", tend to be the most common ones. Instead of coming up with excuses, you should be creating solutions. If your embrassed then exercise inside alone. There is always a solution to even the most difficult of problems. You don't have to exercise for long periods of time, you can break up the time into short sessions. For example, exercise for 30 minutes a day in 10 minute sessions. Living a healthy lifestyle can help cope with stress and help prevent cardiovascular disease. Cardiovascular disease is a disease within your heart or blood vessels. According to the American Heart Association, regular exercise improves the blood circulation throughout the body making the heart and other organs, including the muscles, work better together. You're young, so you don't have a lot of stress in your life, but regular exercise is a great way to cope with it. Again, according to the American Heart Association, regular exercise helps handle stress by releasing tension helping the body to relax and sleep. Children being over weight is another thing. You can become overweight from lack of physical activity and unhealthy eating habits, or a combination of the two. Televison, computers, cell phones, video games, and almost every electronic contributes to the physical inactivity of children your age. This can be solved. Reduce the amount of tv and video games you play and put a limit on how often you use them. Such as not watching tv for more than 2 hours a day and only playing video games for 1 hour.

The Monarchs Royal Assent
The Monarchs Royal Assent In Canada, royal assent is the symbolic final stage of the legislative process by which a bill becomes law.à History of Royal Assent Theà Constitution Act of 1867 established that the approval of the Crown, signified by royal assent, is required for any bill to become law after passage by both the Senate and the House of Commons, which are the two chambers of Parliament. Royal assent is the final stage of the legislative process, and it is this assent that transforms a bill passed by both Houses of Parliament into law. Once royal assent has been given to a bill, it becomes an Act of Parliament and part of the law of Canada. In addition to being a required part of the legislative process, royal assent has strong symbolic significance in Canada. This is because royal assent signifies the coming together of the three constitutional elements of Parliament: the House of Commons, the Senate and the Crown.à The Royal Assent Process Royal assent may be given through a written procedure or through aà traditional ceremony, in which Members of the House of Commons join their colleagues in the Senate chamber. In the traditional royal assent ceremony, a representative of theà Crown, either theà governor-general of Canadaà or aà Supreme Court justice, enters the Senate chamber, where the senators are in their seats. Theà Usher of the Black Rodà summons members of the House of Commons to the Senate chamber, and members of both houses of Parliament witness that Canadians wish the bill to become law. This traditional ceremony must be used at least two times per year. The representative of the sovereign consents to the enactment of a billà by nodding his or her head. Once this royal assent is officially given, the bill has the force of law, unless it contains another date on which it will go into effect. The bill itself is sent to Government House to be signed. Once signed, the original bill is returned to the Senate, where it is put into the archives.

Battle of Antietam in Maryland-1862(bloodiest day in all of recorded Essay
Battle of Antietam in Maryland-1862(bloodiest day in all of recorded American History. 23,000 American deaths...even more than D-Day invasion in World War II) - Essay Example The lesson learnt from the Battle of Antietam has been vivid through the following lines and it is for one and all to comprehend what actually went into the actual battle that took place between the United States of America and the Confederates. The Battle of Antietam is also known by the name of The Battle of Sharpsburg. This battle was fought on the 17th day of September in the year 1862 near Maryland in Sharpsburg which is close to the Maryland Campaign. This indeed marked the initial basis for any kind of war to have taken place on the North American soils after the American Civil War had started. Nearly 23,000 casualties speaks volumes about the war being the bloodiest day in the history of America as it played an indirect yet tactical role in giving President Abraham Lincoln the much needed power to have his ââ¬ËEmancipation Proclamationââ¬â¢. Each year, the battle is commemorated at the Antietam National Battlefield. The result of the war without any shadow of a doubt was that it was tactically full of loopholes and it entailed a strategic victory for the union. The main combatants in the war were the USA and the Confederate States of America. The commanders at both ends were George B. McClellan for USA and Robert E. Lee for the Confederates. The USA outnumbered the Confederates by double the men, where the former had 87,000 while the Confederates had only 45,000 to contend with. There were around 12,401 casualties at US end, which included 2,108 men killed and another 9,540 wounded badly. 753 were either captured or missing in the whole scenario. At the end of the Confederates, there were 10,318 casualties which included 1,546 as killed and another 7,752 injured. 1,018 men were either captured or missing. Coming to the original topic at hand and finding out as to why this battle began in the first place, we find out quite a few things

Corporations Law in Australia Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Corporations Law in Australia - Essay Example A limited liability company, also called a limited liability corporation, usually functions on a smaller scale than a limited liability partnership (Wikipedia 2008), hence, it's method of management and, therefore, it's level of limited liability, though in many aspects the same, does differ from that of a partnership. A company is generally run by the managers, who are responsible for the general functioning of the corporation. Hence, although they are protected by limited liability in that they are just responsible for their investments, they do have to manage any monetary issues that may be faced by the corporation which are beyond the fiscal capacity of the corporation (Wikipedia 2008). The tax liability level might also differ (Wikipedia 2008). On the other hand, a partnership functions on a larger scale, hence, it's method of management and operation differs, giving it different protection under the liability. A partnership is directly run by its investors (Wikipedia 2008), who are all protected by the liability clause, and generally are not responsible for monetary issues beyond their investment. Whereas they are subject to tax payment, the partnership itself, in some cases, maybe tax transparent (Wikipedia 2008), that is, exempted from paying taxes. Hence, the liability of the partners is decreased. Q3: In the context of corporate law, there have been, and still are, many incidents where the law has to be defined and determined in order to solve court cases. In the process, many a time an established act of law is challenged, clauses are redefined and established, or new stipulates are formed. A case in point is the Salomon v Salomon & Co. [1897] A.C. 22 (H.L.). Following is a discussion of the case, and the act that was formed as result of this case. Aron Salomon, a leather merchant, formed a company after establishing a successful business of leather goods (Wikipedia 2008). His decision was supported by his family who formed the shareholders in his company, a total of seven shareholders as per the corporate law of the time. Aron Salomon remained the company's principal shareholder and its principal creditor, and was the managing director of the company (Wikipedia 2008). He established Salomon & Co. Ltd., a limited liability company that was under the protection of the limited liability clause of the corporate law. He held the majority of the shares, and the whole company was practically a family business. However, it went into liquidation (Wikipedia 2008). The liquidator filed a case against Mr. Salomon and the company, and the judge seconded the appeal on the grounds that Mr. Salomon had established the company merely to transfer his business into the corporation in order to obtain limited liabilit

Terrorism - The US Military Cannot Defeat the Terrorists :: Argumentative Persuasive Topics
The US Military Cannot Defeat the Terrorists One Source One of the consequences of the horrendous terrorist attacks of September 11 is that the United States is marching off to war in numerous countries around the globe. Given the terrible damage and large numbers of casualties, it is hardly surprising that most Americans want to destroy the terrorist organization(s) that launched the attacks and the government(s) that aided and abetted the terrorists. Unfortunately, there has been remarkably little public discussion as to why people from the Middle East chose to become suicide bombers intent on piloting air liners into enormous office buildings filled with people. Nor has there been much deliberation regarding the probable consequences of using military force to punish terrorists and the governments that harbor them. President George W. Bush struck a popular chord when he charged that terrorists "have attacked America because we are freedom's home and defender." In his analysis, Americans are innocent victims of barbaric "people that hate freedom and hate what we stand for." The victims on the four highjacked planes and in the buildings were innocent victims, but President Bush is voicing a widely held myth whenever he argues that the terrorist attacks were designed to destroy freedom and democracy in the United States, or that the United States was attacked because it is the defender of freedom and democracy abroad. In fact, the United States was attacked, not because of its political ideals, but rather because of its government's foreign policy in the Middle East. During World War II and in the years after, U.S. power flowed into the region. There the U.S. government sought allies in the fight against fascism, then communism, and lastly against an expansionist Iraq. In these conflicts American policy makers were not particular about who the help they recruited. Brutal dictatorships, repressive military governments, and absolute monarchies were all recipients of U.S. economic and military assistance. In Iran the United States government even went so far as to overthrow the country's democratically elected parliamentary government in 1953. Today, the United States government arms and trains the militaries of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, and American troops help defend these countries. But these countries are run by monarchies that deny fundamental democratic rights to their peoples and vigorously oppress any opponents to their rule. The United States government also supports with extensive military and economic aid a corrupt one-party dictatorship in Egypt.

Food intake 3 day Essay
Weââ¬â¢ve heard time and time again during our lives how important it is to eat fruits and vegetables or to have a well-balanced diet. We also know how hard it can be to ensure that you are eating enough of the right thing. Are fast food restaurants as bad as people make them seem? How do you know if your diet contains all of the essential vitamins and minerals? The answers to both of these questions lie in the results from the three-day food intake assignment I participated in. Using the information I recorded in IProfile, I was able to record my intake of protein, carbohydrates and lipids, the amount of fiber intake, and notice pattern or trends in my diet that could be modified. Initially, I was able to record my intake of protein, carbohydrates and lipids. Of the foods I consumed over the course of three days, mostly from fast food restaurants, the foods that provided the most protein were the Burger King sausage and cheese crossanwich, the Captain Dââ¬â¢s 3-piece chicken d inner, a Burger King Whopper Jr. sandwich, hard-boiled eggs, fish on bun, Popeyeââ¬â¢s shrimp, fried eggs, a McDonalds crispy chicken sandwich and a Five Guys burger. The foods that provided the most carbohydrates are the Burger King sausage and cheese crossanwich, Captain Dââ¬â¢s 3-piece chicken dinner, Pepsi cola, Welchââ¬â¢s 100% grape juice, Five Guys fries and Coca-Cola. Lastly, the foods that provided the most lipids were the Burger King sausage and cheese crossanwich, the hard boiled eggs, fried eggs, pork sausage, a McDonaldââ¬â¢s crispy chicken sandwich and French fries. According to the aforementioned information my daily intake for protein was about 93 grams, 422 grams per day of carbohydrates and 11.16 grams daily for lipids. In comparison, the recommendations of the dietary reference intake (DRI) for protein is 82-286 grams daily, 367-531 grams daily for carbohydrates and 18.6 grams per day of lipids. In conclusion, my lipid intake is extremely too low, with my carbohydrate and protein intake being in range with the DRI recommendations. To avoid illness or poor health, this part of my diet should be carefully monitored and modified. According toà NutritionMD.org, macronutrients such as carbohydrates, protein and fat (or lipids) are essential for growth, health and immune function. ââ¬Å"Too little or too much of any of these macronutrients may result in poor health and a variety of diseasesâ⬠(NutritionMD.org). Protein is important for growth and provides amino acids with are very important for building cells; protein is important for warding off diseases. For example, individuals with liver disease cannot produce enough amino acids to support the body, while a normal individual can; this is most likely a direct correlation to protein intake. Furthermore, using IProfile I was able to monitor my fiber intake. According to my intake spreadsheet my fiber intake does not meet 100% of the recommendation for me as calculated on the IProfile website. My total fiber intake was 21 grams daily, which is about 55.7% of the daily recommendation meaning my fiber consumption is too low. Fiber is important because it helps the body rid itself of waste, which means I will have to take precautions to ensure that I adjust my fiber intake in my diet. Based on my IProfile spreadsheets, the foods in my three-day diet that provided the most fiber were apples, French fries, and red beans with rice. The foods providing the least fiber in my meals were the soda, watermelon, eggs, and pork sausage. My lack of fiber is most likely a direct correlation with the lack of fruit and vegetables in my diet which needs immediate modification. Additionally, using the three-day food intake spreadsheet I was able to pin point patterns or trends in my food con sumption which helps with the much needed modification of my diet. One noticeable trend was that most of the (fast) food I consumed was high in sodium. I also noticed that majority of my sugar and moisture intake along with half of my fluoride intake came from the sodas I consumed. My meals also did not include many fiber-rich bean dishes; I only consumed beans once in the course of three days. Based on the trends found, I plan to incorporate more lipid and fiber rich foods into my diet such as beans and green leafy vegetables, as well as avoid foods that have unhealthy amounts of sodium. For example, according to whfoods.org, eating whole fruit instead of drinking a fruit juice and make a healthy impact on your fiber increase because they provide you with more nutrients such as fiber and essential vitamins as well as less calories than fruit juice. Inà conclusion, by recording my food intake for the course of three-days on IProfile, I was able to monitor the amounts of macronutrients and fiber I consumed, as well as positive and negative trends in my diet. This information is extremely vital for living a healthy and illness or disease free lifestyle. I am now aware of the various modifications I should make to my diet in order to have a healthier lifestyle, such as avoiding fast food high in sodium and adding more fiber-rich beans and vegetables to my diet. Ensuring you are receiving enough nutrients isnââ¬â¢t only important for losing weight but also important for warding off poor health in general as well as several diseases. ââ¬Å"The worst thing we can do is neglect our bodiesâ⬠(health.com) References NutritionMD,org: Micronutrients in Health and Disease. http://www.nutritionmd.org/heath_care_providers/general_nutrition/micronutrients.html Whfoods.org Birt, D. Shareholder Theory Or Stakeholder Theory - 1325 Words
#1 Shareholder theory or stakeholder theory ââ¬Å"There is one and only one social responsibility of business ââ¬â to use its resources and engage in activities designed to increase its profits so long as it stays within the rules of the game, which is to say, engages in open and free competition without deception or fraud.â⬠(Friedman) Friedmanââ¬â¢s word perfectly defines the shareholder theory. However, stakeholder theorists, like John Mackey or Edward Freeman, argue that business has an ethical obligation to all stakeholders, including employees, suppliers, costumers, society and any other groups of people that the business has a relationship with. Personally, I am more inclined to Milton Friedmanââ¬â¢s sentiment for various reasons demonstrated as below. First of all, when business becomes more profitable, the whole society may indirectly benefit from it. As the companies grow larger, they spontaneously need to hire more people and thus create more job opportunities. Moreover, they will also pay more tax a s they earn more money, which is beneficial for reallocation of wealth and social equity. Most of all, businesses themselves are sometimes the best gifts to the society. For example, I donââ¬â¢t really care about how much money Microsoft donates to charity, but I do appreciate that it makes personal computers accessible for every individual in a reasonable price. If it hadnââ¬â¢t ââ¬Å"focused so relentlessly on increasing its profits, cutting his costs in the processâ⬠, I would not be able even toShow MoreRelatedShareholder Theory Vs.
